Inside, the property is decorated with a variety of Smokey Bear decor — even the wallpaper is decked out with images of the lovable mammal. Just a refresher, Smokey Bear was rescued as a cub from a forest fire in 1950, which then attracted a lot of media attention around the issue of wildfire prevention. In turn, making the surviving cub a symbol of fire safety across the nation.
The house holds the Booking.com Travel Sustainable badge for being an environmentally-friendly property, with nearly all the attributes needed to obtain the badge. There are more than 150,000 properties globally on the site featuring the Travel Sustainable badge – everything from sleek city hotels to family-friendly vacation rentals to B&Bs and more. The program was launched last year and is designed to help travelers easily find properties that go the “extra mile” when it comes to being environmentally-friendly.
The house was created out of recycled, sustainable, triple-bottom-line materials, and built using resource-efficient construction methods, integrates smart home technologies and appliances, and implements home energy and water conservation practices.
