With Malaysia opening its international borders on April 1, 2022, Malaysian citizens will be able to freely travel to other countries provided their borders are open as well.
Similarly, international visitors coming into Malaysia will not be required to apply for an entry permit. Nevertheless, they must still apply for the Vaccination Digital certificate at least 5 days prior to entering Malaysia via MySejahtera.
As there will be more opportunities to travel soon, now’s a good time to start racking up airasia points so that you can redeem a variety of attractive rewards ranging from flight tickets to discount vouchers for your next purchase.
On top of better exchange rates when spending abroad, BigPay has also made it possible to earn up to 6 times more airasia points.
How exactly do you earn points?
There are 4 main ways you can earn airasia points.
The first way is to pay your utility bills like water, internet, and electricity using the BigPay app.
Previously, you would have to spend RM20 to earn 1 airasia point. However, BigPay has currently reduced the amount you need to spend to get 1 airasia point down to only RM10.
Scenario: Your utility bill is about RM600 a month. By using BigPay, you are guaranteed to earn at least 60 airasia points.
Another way you could earn airasia points is by shopping locally. Similar to paying your bills, you earn 1 airasia point for every RM10 spent.
Scenario: If you are a part of the “hypebeast” society, you can get rewarded for spending your hard-earned money on that RM3,000 Supreme hoodie that you have been eyeing for months, which equates to about 300 airasia points.
The last two ways to get the most airasia points out of your money spent is by using your BigPay card for purchases at overseas merchants while travelling, or spending on airasia’s services.
By doing so, you will earn 2 points for every RM10 spent, which is 6 times more compared to 1 point for every RM30 spent.
Note: airasia points expire 24 months from the date the points were issued. So make sure to spend your points before then.
What can you redeem?
After mustering as many airasia points as possible, you can spend them on the different rewards available on the airasia rewards website.
These rewards include a RM20 storewide discount voucher from Hermo, RM10 Haagen-Dazs discount voucher, or even a RM25 Kaodim voucher if you need help cleaning your house.
Alternatively, you could redeem RM10 off airasia ride to help you get around any city where its fleets are available. At the time of writing, the e-hailing service is only available in the Klang Valley. There are plans to expand to Thailand next month, though.
You can also redeem free flight tickets to over 150 destinations, as well as tours and excursions.
What else do I get from BigPay?
Other than the rewards programme mentioned above, BigPay offers features such as the ability to track your finances better on its app, airasia flight discounts, and attractive exchange rates when users make international purchases while travelling.
Last but not least, there is BigPay Personal Loans which was launched not too long ago. The service lets you choose how much you want to borrow and for how long. The process is fast too, requiring only a few minutes for the loan to be approved.
How do you sign up for BigPay and how do you link it with airasia rewards?
The process is actually very simple. All you need to do is:
- Download the BigPay app from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
- Fill in your credentials, take a selfie and a photo of your National Registration Identity Card Number (NRIC).
- Lastly, top up RM20 into your BigPay account as part of the sign-up process. You can spend that RM20 on any of BigPay’s services.
If you have an airasia rewards account, you can sync it with your BigPay account simply by tapping on the “Sync your airasia points” option and keying in your login details.
If you don’t have an airasia rewards account, you can create one by heading over to AirAsia’s official website and tapping on the “Sign Up” button.
Then, just follow the steps on the screen and you’re on your way to earning attractive rewards as you start travelling from April 1 onwards.
