Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi is back with the third season. How excited are you?
I am truly happy to be back with the new season along with Supriya ji (Pilgaunkar) and Erica Fernandes. My character Dev has been an important milestone in my career, and I feel lucky to have received an opportunity to play the role once again. It’s heartening for any actor to know that the fans and viewers are excited even before the launch of the show.
How is this season going to be different from the last two?
It is going to be different in many ways. As characters, people will now see Dev and Sonakshi 10 years after where they started. It is said that when two people start sharing their lives, they become each other’s habit. This chapter will showcase the changing dynamics between them and ways in which they will overcome certain challenges.
When it comes to chemistry with your on screen heroines, you have always excelled. What’s the secret?
I guess my honesty for the role I play on screen. I try to be as real as possible. I guess that’s the reason that chemistry has been so good all the time.
Every time Shaheer comes on screen there is a huge pressure. How do you deal with that?
Whenever my show is on air, I come on line and see the reactions of my fans and thus I know their expectations. But as I said, I try to be as honest as I can. There were shows which didn’t work, but my dedication and honesty was hundred per cent to my character.
Now that you are married in real life, what new nuances have you put in the role?
Dev has made me a better person. Now, when I am married, I am sure I will get to experience so many things through this role. Whatever roles I have played on screen, they have taught me a lot.
Your better half Ruchika Kapoor is a creative person. How much of work do you discuss at home?
Not much. We don’t discuss work at home. But yes, whenever a big decision comes up, we always discuss with each other.
You have also been penning down your thoughts, what’s next?
I have been wanting to do this for long, but when you work in a daily show you hardly get the time for it. Hopefully soon.
Twelve long years in the industry — what do you have to say about it?
The journey has made me what I am today. Mumbai has given me everything. Mumbai gave me identity.
