Middletown, Maryland has been selected as a featured location for the 86th Annual Maryland House and Garden Pilgrimage for Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Maryland House and Garden Pilgrimage is a beloved Maryland tradition to tour the state’s finest samples of architectural gems. Middletown certainly fits that description with over 250-years of architectural history compacted on it’s 3-mile long Main Street situated along the Maryland historic and scenic byway, the Old National Road. Pilgrims will have access to tour the interiors of ten historic properties downtown, all within walking distance. Properties range in age, from the late 1700s to the early 20th century, and include notable Federal style homes, elegant Victorian homes, one-of-a-kind commercial structures, and the rarely seen interior of a turn-of-the-century operating room. Middletown’s history is based on its agricultural roots, and the pockets of in-town gardens reflect the passion for beautiful and fruitful landscapes. Lunches will be catered by Tapia’s on Main.

She continued, “proceeds from the tour will help us continue to the rehabilitation of 19 West Main Street, two circa 1870’s Carpenter Gothic commercial structures which will become the Middletown Welcome Center and Main Street headquarters.”
