Here’s a fun fact. Luxury brand Longchamp sells 10 of its signature “Le Pliage” bags every minute worldwide. But they’ve never looked this cheeky. The 75-year-old brand has partnered with the creators of Toiletpaper arts magazine, Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari, to create a range of five pop-art prints on Longchamp’s classic, foldable nylon bags, in various sizes. There’s an overnight bag featuring a leaping horse ($795), a play on the Longchamp logo, and one printed with a skull and baguettes in place of the crossbones, because, well, carbs. Melissa Singer

“Yellowface” is the practice of wearing make-up to imitate an East Asian person. June Hayward, the 20-something white protagonist of American writer Rebecca Kuang’s novel Yellowface ($33), goes further, stealing the manuscript of her dead (Asian) friend Athena and passing it off as her own. Her publishers insist she rename herself Juniper Song and the book becomes a bestseller, catapulting June into the literary spotlight. How far will she go to protect her secret? This is deft literary satire in which Kuang skewers June’s self-justification and the publishing industry’s efforts to embrace diversity. Yellowface asks serious questions about racism and cultural appropriation and is a fast-paced, highly entertaining read in the process. Nicole Abadee

If you identify as Team Tea or Team Coffee, then where do you stand when it comes to cascara? Essentially a coffee tea, cascara is made from the skin of the coffee cherry in which the coffee bean grows. Sun-dried and steeped, it’s an innovative way to recycle leftover coffee pulp into a unique and refreshing tea. Famed NZ roastery Coffee Supreme likes it so much it’s canned an iced, naturally carbonated Cascara Fizz that’s bright and fruity, with notes of vanilla and citrus (four-pack $22 and at Coffee Supreme cafes in Brookvale, NSW and Abbotsford, Victoria). We’re not entirely sure why they’re launching it in winter, but hey, tea and coffee are welcome in all their forms, any time. Jill Dupleix
