Each fortnight, Stephanie Darling road tests a different make-up, skincare or wellness trend to find out whether it’s worth your time.
I am looking to streamline my skincare regimen, so I meet Dr Scott Ellis on Zoom to get the good oil.
The lowdown Scott Ellis, of QR8 MediSkin, is charming and really does know his stuff as we address my main skin concern: ageing, of course! He realises how time-poor many of us are and tailors his bespoke compounding prescriptions perfectly. Ellis prescribes a day cream and a night cream for me using the principle that less is more. After cleansing in the morning, I’m to apply a day cream which contains azelaic acid, kojic acid, ubiquinone and niacinamide, topped off with a moisturising SPF50+. At night, it’s a combination of resveratrol, tretinoin, ubiquinone and niacinamide, topped off with a night moisturiser. I know to start slowly and follow the instructions, only increasing the days I use these tinctures as my skin adjusts.
Pain factor Nothing except some flaking skin initially, which indicates the creams are working.
Downtime One hour on Zoom.

Results My skin loves the active properties of these two creams.
After a month, it looks brighter, almost luminous.
