What made you accept this show, Dhadkan Zindagii Kii?

When I first heard the narration, I was sold on the idea. After hearing the first episode, I realised I didn’t want to miss this opportunity.

Have you ever experienced gender discrimination in your life?

I have been in the industry for the past 13 years and I am in a position where I can dictate my own terms. I have seen petty discriminations like male actors getting bigger vanity vans or female actresses being made to wait for their shots as male actors would go home first.

This show is a medical drama. How well-versed are you with the world of doctors?

After we started shooting, I have learnt many medical terms.

How has your life changed post marriage?

My husband Kabir Chopra has been a great support. He supports me in my career completely. We both are workaholics. He knows how important my work is to me. He is in the business of construction.

Does he feel insecure as you are in the business of glamour?

Not at all. I believe that I give him that security.

Do you love to do your household work when you are not shooting?

It totally depends on me! No one can pressurise me. If I feel like cooking, I do that. My in-laws are also broad minded people, they also help me grow.

What is your take on the changing content of Indian television?

The audience doesn’t want to come out of their comfort zone. And this is the reason why many shows which tried to do something different, failed. We, as a team, feel if there is even one husband who will change after watching this show, we will be happy.

How will you sum up your 13 years of journey?

It is a wonderful journey and I have seen a lot of ups and downs. And, I have learnt from my mistakes.

What about acting in films?

No one has offered me a film till date. Maybe after this show people will start offering me roles in films.
