Each week, Stephanie Darling roadtests a different makeup or skincare trend to find out whether it’s worth your time. Ahead, some at-home upkeep on her lashes and brows.
Road test
My beauty maintenance has gone to the dogs during lockdown. Time for some professional advice.
The lowdown My lashes and brows are languishing, my unfilled lash extensions are sparse and spidery, and my brows are a little ragged. Luckily, lash and brow guru Amy Jean Linnehan is on hand to sort things out. Her advice? “Brush lashes with a spoolie brush to groom them into place. This will ensure any lashes at the end of their cycle, or falling out after lash extensions, are safely and gently removed.” And, as tempting as it may be, she warns against pulling out any remaining extensions at home. To keep eyelashes and eyebrows healthy, Amy Jean recommends I apply a dedicated growth-enhancing lash serum to the base of my clean upper lashes at night and a nourishing mask for my brows each morning to help keep them in line.
At home Amy Jean’s Brow & Lash Growth Duo (amyjean-collection.com, $189) is the perfect care package, with Daily Brow Mask and Eyelash Growth Serum. The serum has vitamins and peptides to promote fuller, longer lashes, while the cold-pressed oil mask, which I apply using the spoolie, tames and hydrates brows.
Pain factor I can’t help feeling naked without my eyelash extensions.
Downtime Fifteen seconds.
Results After a couple of weeks, my lashes look thicker and longer and my brows are framing my face nicely.
