If you’re a working professional, you’ll know how important a business card is. It’s a representation of yourself and your company, and every time you hand it out you are leaving something that outlasts an impression.
But today’s world is more focused on sustainability than ever, and with that comes a desire to go paperless and digital.
So, here are some options in Malaysia for you to switch from paper name cards to something that’s more eco-friendly as well as memorable. Unless stated otherwise, most of these services can be accessed with just a web browser.
Paperless but physical
1. Griffy Card
Built in with a Near Fields Communication (NFC) chip, the Griffy Card looks like a sleek and premium credit card. Via the Griffy website, cardholders can input their details and edit them at any time.
Due to its NFC capabilities, users can simply tap the card against a phone to share their contact details seamlessly.
For phones that aren’t NFC-incompatible, each card comes with a QR code on its back for convenience.
There is quite a variety of designs available, though most are rather simple and sleek. There’s Signature, Professional, The Songket, The Sarong, Minimal, Portrait, and Royal.
Companies can also opt for customised cards, which can feature logos and personalised designs.
Each card is RM89, though Griffy Card offers volume pricing for businesses.
Other similar Malaysian brands doing similar products include Raptaz and NEXKAD, though each brand features slightly different designs to cater to individual preferences.
2. One Good Card
Based in Singapore, One Good Card is essentially like Griffy Card, though it offers a selection of other modern card designs. Bulk options are also available for teams and companies.
One thing that’s unique to the company, though, is the One Good Ring, a product that was fully funded on Kickstarter within seven hours. As you can imagine, the One Good Ring is fitted with an NFC chip as well that can transmit your personal profile to NFC-enabled smartphones.
Coming in Onyx Black or Nova White, these rings are made of pure ceramic and are brushed with a metallic finish. They’re also waterproof and chemical-resistant. Sizes go from six to ten.
The One Good Ring is only available for pre-order right now at RM305.90. According to the website, the shipping will start from December 2022.
3. Popl
Headquartered in the United States, Popl boasts a clientele that includes names like Tesla, Uber, Salesforce, and more.
Aside from an NFC-enabled card, Popl also offers a variety of other types of ways to share your details. For instance, it sells badges, wristbands, as well as keychains that are all NFC-enabled.
The standard Popl card is only RM24, but keep in mind it doesn’t feature your name, though there is a QR code. For those who want a more unique way to share their details, there’s an RM215 metal card option. There are also custom cards for RM144.
Professionals who network a lot might appreciate the convenience of the RM72 Popl PhoneCard in particular, which sticks onto the back of your phone.
4. T-A-G
A brand that we’ve featured in the past, T-A-G stands for Tap-And-Go. Like the previous business card alternatives, its products use NFC technology. The main difference, though, is the presentation.
Although it sells the regular business card, T-A-G’s main product is something similar to the Popl PhoneCard, whereby it’s a sticker for the back of your phone. Except, T-A-G’s sticker is circular and comes in a variety of designs.
The stickers are priced at RM78, while the cards are RM128 each.
Digital and virtual-only
5. ZERO BrandCard
At no cost, ZERO BrandCard is a local platform offering virtual personal and business card solutions.
Personal cards can be created via the Zero BrandCard app. After signing up with a mobile number, users can customise their digital card to include a variety of information such as education, interests, certifications, and more.
The card can then be shared to other Zero or non-Zero users via a QR code on the app, though it requires the other party to download the app as well. Alternatively, your card can also be texted to the recipient via phone number.
For business cards, businesses can register their company on the Zero BrandCard platform and design their own virtual cards that can be used by all employees.
The required materials include a company logo, icon, background image, and additional information such as the company’s name, location, email, website, phone number, and social links.
6. HiHello
HiHello is another free platform that lets you create digital business cards, but it also features paid options that offer more frills.
The free basic version gives one user access to four business card templates. The professional plan is US$6/month with unlimited name cards for one user. There are also business and enterprise plans for those looking for more advanced tools.
For the free cards, you are able to input your information directly through the website. The card features an image, name, email, and phone number, though you can also add a wealth of other details such as your pronouns, accreditation, title, and more. Social media links can be included too.
While you can let people text your HiHello card to themselves, having the app gives you access to a unique QR code you can use to share your details with.
