YouTube keeps testing and adding new features and changes to its platform. The most recent one seems to be a new Like animation for Android and iOS mobile app.
9to5Google has reported that the new Like animation has been rolling out for a while now. It seems that initially, YouTube rolled out the feature to select users as several users have reported the feature on /r/YouTube subreddit from a month ago.
However, the feature is now available to a wider audience on Android and iOS devices. The web version of YouTube still has the regular Like button. As of now, the report does not reveal whether the new Like animation is on desktop version or not.
As far as the new Like animation is concerned, users will see a new fireworks and streamers animation pop up around the thumb icon of the Like button. The entire artwork also enlarges and bounces for a while and changes its colour from Green to Red and then returns back to normal.
The company has also updated the Dislike button, but it does not get an animation. Instead, users will now see a new Learn more pop up which will redirect them to the creator updates page with details of recent changes on YouTube.
How to get the new Like animation on YouTube app
As mentioned, the feature is rolling out to users and it is a server-side update. So, there’s no option in the settings to enable or disable the feature as of now.
