YouTube is testing a new reactions feature for videos – Times of India

NEW DELHI: YouTube has started testing a new and interesting feature which will enable users to express themselves while watching a video. The Google-owned platform is testing a reactions feature for videos. Similar to Facebook Live, the reactions feature in YouTube will be seen in the comment section and it will have a separate panel which will display the emoji reactions by time.
The company reveals that presently it is experimenting with the feature with a limited number of channels.

Here’s how the timed reaction feature on YouTube will work
If you’re watching a video that is part of this experiment, you can react and see crowd reactions by opening the comment section of the video and tapping into the reaction panel. The test will also show you which moments other viewers are reacting to (which will be anonymized – we won’t show who sent each reaction).
YouTube also mentioned that it is working multiple sets of reactions and it will add and remove reactions on the basis of how the viewers will react.
Recently, YouTube introduced a video transcription feature. Presently available for desktop YouTube users, the feature allows users to view the complete transcription of any video right on the app. The feature reportedly adds a new “Transcript” section below the video description. Tapping on the ‘Show Transcript’ button will open up the complete transcription of the current video with timestamps.
