Xiaomi’s next top-of-the-line smartphone series – the Xiaomi 12S – is set to debut on July 4. The upcoming Xiaomi 12S series will consist of three models – Xiaomi 12S, Xiaomi 12S Pro and Xiaomi 12S Ultra. The company has announced that the new smartphone series will feature Leica co-powered optics. Now, the company has shared the official render of one of the upcoming Xiaomi 12S series’ members.
Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s CEO, shared the render of the Xiaomi 12S Pro on the Chinese micro-blogging website Weibo. The render gives us a look at the rear of the smartphone showing off the camera module, and it corroborates with the previously leaked live images.
The camera module on the Xiaomi 12S Pro looks very similar to the one on the Xiaomi 12 Pro. The only difference between the two is the ‘Leica’ branding on the Xiaomi 12S Pro. Further, the text on the module reads, “Vario-Summicron,” which is Leica’s branding for its lens’ and it suggests that the Leica could have more direct involvement in the development rather than just for the sake of branding. As far as camera setup is concerned, the Xiaomi 12S Pro is expected to come with the same triple 50MP camera setup as the Xiaomi 12 Pro.
The render suggests that the Xiaomi 12S Pro might not get a design overhaul. It further shows an IR blaster, a microphone, “Sound by Harman/Kardon” branding and a speaker grille on the top edge.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro is set to launch alongside the Xiaomi 12S and Xiaomi 12S Ultra next week. We expect to hear more about Xiaomi’s upcoming smartphone series as the launch nears.
