World of Warcraft: Dragonflight’s Fractures in Time update may not introduce a new zone or raid tier, but it will introduce a sprawling “mega dungeon” and a new never-before-seen DPS playstyle when it arrives on July 11.
Blizzard has announced the game’s 10.1.5 update will arrive in just a few weeks, continuing the developer’s recent hot streak of delivering regular content updates for its long-running MMORPG. Headlining the update is the new eight-boss, Mythic-only difficulty Dawn of the Infinite dungeon. Players will be traveling back in time to major moments in Warcraft history to prevent the fabled transformation of Nozdormu into Murozond, along the way coming face-to-face with the corpse of Galakrond. There players will participate in a showdown with Iridikron, the primalist dragon shaping up to be the expansion’s big-bad.

Fractures in Time will additionally introduce a new class specialization into the game, the first time a new spec has ever been added mid-expansion. Augmentation Evoker will be unique among all of the game’s specs, and though it is billed as a DPS spec, it sports a new, buff-focused playstyle that revolves around empowering teammates as opposed to dealing as much damage as possible on their own. A new Evoker questline will provide the lore reasons behind the specs sudden appearance, but it is not required to unlock the spec and will be available for all Evoker players come launch day.
Those are the major additions, but the Warlock class will also be expanded to all of the game’s remaining races, and Warlock players will have some new pet customization options to play with. New public events that will see players battling invasions from other timelines, as well as the ability to play babysitter at a dragon whelp daycare, will be added too.
One new event coming in Fractures of Time that feels like a precursor of things to come is the Kalimdor Cup, which will temporarily enable dragonriding races for one of WoW’s original continents. Blizzard has confirmed that it is working on adding the ability to dragonride everywhere, even though it was originally made just for the new Dragon Isles zones in Dragonflight. However, the ability to dragonride anywhere in the game’s world won’t be coming in the Fractures in Time update.
One quest that won’t be coming with Fractures in Time is a controversial one involving the trauma and abuse of one of WoW’s core female characters. Players quickly took issue with the quest after it was discovered on the game’s public test realm, where the new update is currently being tested. Blizzard removed the quest from the PTR following the backlash, and it will presumably not appear when Fractures in Time releases in a few weeks.
