World of Warcraft Classic Fans Create Updated Graphics For the Game With Nvidia RTX Remix

World of Warcraft Classic, which released in 2019 mimicz the main version of the game before The Burning Crusade expansion. The game still looks dated, but it recently got a visual upgrade via Nvidia’s RTX Remix files. These were taken from Portal’s RTX files.

The video showing the graphical enhancements was posted on the r/RTXRemix subreddit, and it’s impressive. What makes it even more interesting is the fact that World of Warcraft Classic is not officially supported for the code and was not designed to be used with it.

For those unaware, RTX Remix is a modding platform. Here, modders can add ray tracing and Nvidia’s technologies to older games. The software records textures and lighting data, which can be used in applications such as Blender. Modders can also increase the resolution of old assets via AI Super Resolution. AI Physically Based Materials can help in added physical properties to those assets.

RTX Remix can also help in adding DLSS 3 and Reflex, which can be good for improving performance. Even though the platform is not yet available to the public and is set to launch this year, modders have been able to use Portal RTX files in other games to improve graphics. At the moment, modders run into compatibility issues and it is not exactly a very simple process to make any old title look better. However, it’s hard to understate how beautiful the improvements have made World of Warcraft Classic.
