Windows 11: Microsoft is changing the colour of the Blue Screen of Death with Windows 11 – Times of India

Microsoft announced its upcoming OS, Windows 11, some days back. The latest news regarding the new things that we’ll get to see with the OS is that it will not have the Blue Screen of Death. Instead, it will have the Black Screen of Death as the colour of the screen has been changed to Black. Microsoft is testing this design feature in Windows 11 preview, as spotted by The Verge. Since the new logon and the shutdown screens are going to be in Black with the new OS, Microsoft may have thought of changing to the colour of the infamous Screen of Death too for the sake of conformity.
Looking at it just symbolically, Black is associated with death in many cultures across the world. That way, the new nomenclature feels fine. But In the world of tech, whenever someone speaks of the Blue Screen of Death, the name evokes the trouble Windows can give us, whenever it has gone for a bug check or redress a kernel error and we think the name will stay in popular parlance for some time until users forget it for the Black Screen of Death with the new operating system as time passes.
Are there more changes to the screen apart from just the colour? Not many, as per the report. The sad face will still be there, as will the stop code and crash dump. Mostly, it looks like it is being done just for a visual overhaul and to make Windows 11 look different from the previous iterations.
