Wild Hearts and Wo Long Termed ‘Successful’ Launches by Koei Tecmo

Koei Tecmo has released their FY22 earnings and described their two major releases, Wild Hearts and Wo Long, as “sucessful” launches. Both these games helped contribute towards Koei Tecmo’s reported revenue of $584.3 million.

That’s an 8 percent increase from their FY21 report, as pointed out by industry analyst MauroNL. However, a 12.5 per cent hit was dealt in comparison to FY21 when it came to net profits. Koei Tecmo reported $230.5 million net profit in their financial year 2022 report.

Interestingly, the company decided not to reveal the sales number for Wild Hearts and Wo Long. Both of these titles did not have a major gap between their releases as Wild Hearts arrived on February 17 and Wo Long was released on March 3.

Koei Tecmo’s two biggest launches of 2023 have gained favorable responses since their release. That’s why it’s surprising the sales numbers weren’t revealed earlier.

Koei Tecmo however chose to reveal the sales data for some of its other games. Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key sold 290,000 copies worldwide after it released on March 23. Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse remaster sold 120,000 copies since it released on March 9.

The company says it’s expecting to ship 10.4 million global copies of their games for FY23. They shipped 9.64 million in FY22, an increase of 18.6 per cent from FY21.

Koei Tecmo has highlighted Rise of the Ronin as their next title for FY23. Rise of the Ronin will release for the PlayStation in 2024.
