WhatsApp Voice Notes Feature: WhatsApp developing a new feature to allow voice notes to play in the background – Times of India

WhatsApp is working on a new global voice note player that is expected to allow users to play voice notes in the background, reports XDA Developers. Presently, if you play a voice note in any chat in WhatsApp, the voice note stops playing if you go back to the home screen list or switch to a new chat.
The report adds that the new voice note player appears at the top of the app after you play a voice note and navigate back or go to a new chat. The voice note player is also expected to come with a progress bar and might also have buttons that will allow you to pause, resume and dismiss the voice note.
There is no official information about this change from WhatsApp so it is unknown when it’ll be released on even the beta channel. This new feature is in its development phase and wasn’t made available to beta testers in the latest WhatsApp beta release.
The development of this global voice note player was first hinted at in a WhatsApp beta for iOS in October 2021. The feature is not yet live on iOS yet and the team responsible for the development of this global voice player has been working on it for months.

WhatsApp has been developing and introducing new additions to the voice notes feature for some time now. The messenger included the ability to alter the playback speed of voice notes in April 2021.
Earlier reports from September 2021 suggested that it was also working on including a new feature that will allow users to transcribe voice notes on the messaging platform. In December 2021, WhatsApp announced another new feature that allows you to preview your voice notes before hitting the send button.
