WhatsApp rolls out new group calling feature: Here’s all you need to know – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Facebook-owned WhatsApp has rolled out a new and useful feature, which will enable users to join a group call as per their convenience. WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that will allow a user to join a group video or voice call after it has started.
The feature called Joinable calls “reduce the burden of answering a group call as it starts, and brings the spontaneity and ease of in-person conversations to group calling on WhatsApp,” said company in a blog post.
Same as Zoom and Google Meet, WhatsApp users will also be able to join an ongoing group call. The feature also enables users to drop-off or re-join as long as the call goes on.

“We’ve also created a call info screen so you can see who is already on the call, and who has been invited but not yet joined. And, if you hit ‘Ignore’ you can join later from the calls tab in WhatsApp,” said Facebook.
When you receive a group video call, the incoming WhatsApp group video call screen will show the participants currently present on call and the first contact listed will be the participant that added you. The company also confirmed that the Joinable calls are end-to-end encrypted the same as your personal chats.
Recently, WhatsApp rolled out the new multi-device feature. The feature enables WhatsApp users to operate one account via different devices simultaneously and independently. This means that if using the multi-device feature, you’ll be able to use linked companion devices without the need to keep your phone connected.
The feature is currently in the beta stage and is being tested with a small set of users only. Existing WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business app beta users on both Android and iOS operating systems can opt for it. Using this feature, you will be able to use WhatsApp on up to four companion devices at one time.
