What this billionaire CEO has to say about his internship at Apple – Times of India

Salesforce CEO Mark Benioff has shed some light on his time as a young intern at Apple. As per a report by AppleInsider, the tech CEO revealed that during his time as an intern at Apple, he got to work in close proximity with Steve Jobs and Guy Kawasaki. It was Kawasaki himself who hired Benioff for the position of intern, back in 1984.
In Kawasaki’s Remarkable People podcast, Benioff says: “I was kind of a 19 year old snotty nosed kid with a little software company built out of a bunch of my high school friends,” Benioff says on the podcast. “You [Guy] got me all hooked up and I was in business and as a Macintosh developer, and the rest is history.”
During the internship, Benioff was required to write Assembly Language programs “so that Macintosh developers around the world could see how Macintosh software was created.”, Kawasaki reportedly said.
As per the report, the Salesforce CEO wrote about 70 of the Assembly Language programs. Benioff also revealed that he also learned about how to run a successful technology company.
“I learned, while being at Apple, that a technology company, a great one, is filled with amazing energy, vitality and a sense of urgency. And at the same time, there was a great culture [there]. Steve Jobs had those Odwalla juices for everyone and shiatsu masseurs were going up and down the hallways, keeping programmers limber.”
Benioff has previously said that Steve Jobs was a guide for him and Salesforce over the years and helped him a lot. “He has probably given me more help and more advice than just about anyone else,” the tech CEO reportedly said in 2011.
