Viral: Couple Sends $240 Wedding Dinner Invoice To Guests Who Didn’t Show Up; Leaves Internet Amused

Weddings are always an expensive fare. From deciding upon the venue and decorations to guest lists, there is always so much to do. Oh, and let’s not forget about the food! While we may plan what items will go for snacks, main menu and desserts, our primary concerns always include that food shouldn’t be less for the guests. But what if most of the guests don’t show up? Then we are left with tons of food that may go to waste with a hefty bill to pay for.

Recently, when a couple from Chicago found themselves in the same situation, they decided to send invoices to the guests who did not attend the wedding without informing the couple. Calling them the “no call no show guests”, the couple charged the guests $240. Posting the photo on Facebook, the groom, Doug, wrote “Don’t be offended when I send this #invoice to you. It’s gonna look something like this. I’ll be sending it via email and certified mail… just in case you say you ain’t get the email #PETTYPOST.” Take a look:

Attaching a note with the invoice, the couple said, “This invoice is being sent to you because you confirmed seat(s) at the wedding reception during the Final Headcount. The amount above is the cost of your individual seats. Because you didn’t call or give us proper notice that you wouldn’t be in attendance, this amount is what you owe us for paying for your seat(s) in advance. You can pay via Zelle or PayPal. Please reach out to us and let us know which method of payment works for you. Thank you!”

Ever since Doug posted the image of the invoice was posted on Facebook, the post has garnered thousands of likes and has been shared over six thousand times. Many have commented as well. One person wrote, “This man then started something 2021 the start of contract weddings cause I’m definitely going that route.” While another one wrote, “Man I wanna send this out 2 years later lol I swear!!”

After the post went viral, Doug again posted, “I got over 200+ inbox messages from people thanking me for the #INVOICE post. Many have shared horror stories about people who did not show up on weddings & birthday parties… very sad. My #PETTYPOST has turned into something deeper… it has exposed people’s lack of accountability and always finding a way to make themselves the victim.”
