Kamal Haasan’s Vikram is showing no signs of slowing down at the box office even as the film marked its fourth weekend in the cinemas. The film has also dethroned SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2 to become the highest-grossing film in Tamil Nadu. It has also crossed ₹400 crore at the box office worldwide and has become the second Tamil film after Rajinikanth’s 2.0 to achieve this feat. Vikram, which was also dubbed and released in Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam, features Kamal Haasan in the role of the former agent Vikram, who sets out to avenge the death of his son, an undercover officer in narcotics bureau. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala took to Twitter on Sunday to announce that the revenge saga has now entered the ₹400 crore club.
Trade sources have confirmed that the film will continue to have a phenomenal run at the box office and will soon enter the Rs. 450 crore club. Two weeks ago, Kamal Haasan had met the media in Chennai and said he was thrilled with the response to the movie.
Kamal also confirmed that he will reunite with director Lokesh Kanagaraj for the next part in the Vikram franchise in 2023. He said the success has only motivate them to work harder on their next collaboration. The actor also thanked actor Suriya for accepting the offer to play a 10-minute cameo in the movie. Suriya, who features as the main antagonist, plays a character called Rolex.
Vikram has also emerged as the biggest grossing film of Kamal Haasan’s career. The film, which also stars Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil in key roles, has now emerged as the highest-grossing film of all time in Tamil Nadu.
