Valorant: Team Liquid Stuns Fnatic in VCT EMEA Grand Final to Become Inaugural Champions

Team Liquid emerged victorious in the VCT EMEA League Championship Grand Final, after defeating Fnatic.

The squad won 3-1 against the VCT LOCK//IN champions, who came into the match with a 21-game win streak, making them the favorites. Moreover, as pointed out by Dot Esports, Fnatic had won all nine series in the VCT EMEA League, while dropping just one map against BBL Esports.

VCT EMEA League Championship concludes with Team Liquid on top

Coming into the Grand Final, Fnatic was the favorite to secure yet another VCT championship. The team had also defeated Liquid in the Winners’ Bracket Final in a convincing manner. However, when the two teams met again, things were a bit different.

The Grand Final started off with what seemed like yet another dominating victory for Fnatic, as they won Game 1 in Lotus. However, the script changed, when Team Liquid won Game 2 in Ascent with a scoreline of 14-12.

Team Liquid then dominated Fnatic at Haven with a scoreline of 13-6. With Fnatic desperately needing a win, the Grand Final moved the battlegrounds to Fracture, where Team Liquid eked out a 13-11 win to take home the VCT EMEA League trophy.

VCT Masters Tokyo next on schedule

As the victors, Team Liquid also took home the grand prize of $100,000. Additionally, they also qualified for the upcoming VCT Masters Tokyo as the top seeded team. Rest of the top four teams from the tournament including Fnatic, FUT Esports and Natus Vincere also qualified for VCT Masters Tokyo that starts on June 11, 2023.
