Valorant: Riot Games Sends Legal Notice to Instalock Companion App

The Valorant community has been split into two halves, thanks to the shutting down of Recon Bolt. Recon Bolt was a 3rd party companion application for the game that allowed players to instalock their Agents faster than humanly possible. Riot recently sent them a cease and desist letter and the developer had to take the application down.

Instalocking is a term used in online character-based competitive games, where your character choice affects your playstyle. By instalocking, players can get hold of their beloved character before anyone else can even comprehend what happened. However, this serves as an issue for team play as well as new players that are still getting familiar with the characters of the game.

As spotted by Dot Esports, Riot sent a cease and desist letter to Recon Bolt, warning the dev to take the application down as well as its GitHub Page, or they will see them in court. The deadline for taking down Recon Bolt was set for July 27, but the developer has decided to do it a week earlier on July 20. The developer also stated that they tried to find out a “way forward together” with Riot, but the publisher turned this request down.

It is not a surprise that the application was taken down though, as Riot had already warned players in the month of June that the usage of unauthorised 3rd-party apps that pull information hidden by the game client can get them banned. Hence, getting rid of the application together was the logical move for the company.

2023 LCS Championship schedule out

On the topic of Riot, League of Legends’ one of the biggest competitions, the LCS Championships, are all set to kick off towards the end of this month. As reported by Dot Esports, the playoffs stage of this competition will take place between July 27 and August 13, with ten matches spread across the course of three weeks. After the playoffs are decided, the victors will battle it out in the championship weekend, which will span across August 19 and 20.

DetonatioN FocusMe sets Valorant record

A Japanese VCT team has set a surprising record. DetonatioN FocusMe has concluded their Valorant campaign for 2023 without securing any wins. However, there is one silver lining for them — the situation cannot get worse than it already is for the team.
