Valorant is currently the world’s most happening Tactical FPS Shooter, with over 15 Million active users, and those players are coming up with very, very clever uses of Agent Astra’s abilities.
Hailing from Accra, Ghana, Astra is a Radiant with powers relating to cosmic energies and she uses these in her role as an “astral guardian” and is the 16th agent recruited for Valorant Protocol. Added in-game last March, Astra is a Controller class Agent with several abilities to shutting down enemy vision, taking control of areas and forcing enemies into choke points.
Recently, Reddit discovered some sleek uses for Astra’s Gravity Well ability that particularly make the agent extremely useful when players match on the Breeze Map:
This tactic is extremely useful to get your Astra into unreachable locations and deal massive damage to enemies from above. Several players hailed this move as super risky, but it can be a rewarding tactic when paired with the right support teammates to Fake and lay down extra smokes.
Reddit user u/mikelelelele also gave further instructions on how to successfully activate the Gravity Well and climb up steep slopes: “ye so u need to jump and then [activate ability] and spam crouch”.
Pulling off a tactic like this requires at least another player faking the Halls and Vent, and another one providing cover for Astra to clear away should the situation get hairy, since Astra does not have a Dash or Teleport function like Chamber or Jett.
Other players have complained about Astra’s Over-Powered kit and abilities, claiming that there is actually no way to counter these abilities or their uses. Astra actually offers a lot to her team and her kit, when used appropriately, can actually stop enemy pushes right in their tracks. Astra is OP she really can outplay opponents. However, both competitive players and fans have called for Astra to be nerfed, due to her aggressive playstyle.
