Riot Games has revealed the first major patch for Valorant since the release of Episode 4 Act 1: Disruption.
The latest episode of the competitive FPS title has introduced a new Agent in the Manila-based Neon, who possesses shockingly powerful electric abilities. Moreover, the developers have also reworked many of the game’s maps and weapons as well.
However, following a lot of negative reactions from the community regarding some of the changes, the developers have tweaked weapons like the Ares by nerfing them with Patch 4.01 after players found it incredibly powerful.
The developers at Riot Games have increased both the pitch recoil and the price of the Ares, with the weapon now costing 1600 creds. Additionally, Riot Games has also altered the weapon’s spread change, along with a decrease in the crouch benefits.
Fans will most likely appreciate these tweaks as the minor nerf to Ares will lead to the weapon’s proper usage in Valorant. However, the biggest news from Patch 4.01 revolves around a new social feature.
In the patch notes, the developers at Riot Games announced a new “Muted Word List.” Toxic players have always been a menace, and even with the heavy censorship from the developers, these fans continue to cause havoc by using tricky ways to send vile messages to teammates and opponents.
To combat this major problem, Riot Games has introduced the “Muted Word List,” which will allow players to type variations of words or phrases, and censor them from appearing in their in-game chat.
As players continue to find new ways to send crude in-game texts to players, the list will help the developers to identify words and phrases that need their attention, so they can determine whether they might have to ban them from appearing in the game.
While the current system will flag foul words that are spelt right, the “Muted Words List” allows players to choose and block the different spelling variations of a certain word.
This keeps the toxicity away from a normal game chat, and it also helps the developers identify words that would need to make it on the permanent block list.
Fans will definitely have a lot of words to add to this list, and the community is interested to see how this new feature will help combat a headache-inducing problem like toxicity in Valorant.
