Vaani Kapoor on OTT release of films: It’s unfair for them to succumb to pressure of the present situation

OTT once again seems to be the preferred medium for makers to release their ready projects amid the uncertainty pertaining to reopening of cinemas. Actor Vaani Kapoor, whose film Bell Bottom will release in theatres worldwide, has two more movies in the pipeline set for release. But, the actor finds the current situation “disheartening” as many filmmakers aren’t getting the chance to release their projects the way they intended to.

“Yes, while some films are moving to OTT and it’s totally a producer’s call in this unprecedented situation, there are films that have been designed for a larger than life cinematic experience. And it’s unfair and disheartening for these movies to succumb to the pressure of the present situation,” explains Kapoor.

However, the actor is keeping a positive approach and hopes that, “as an audience as well as an artiste, we get to see these films in theatres very soon”.

Kapoor, who made her Bollywood debut with Shuddh Desi Romance in 2013, will be seen in films such as Bell Bottom, Shamshera and Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui. Like everyone else in the entertainment industry, her release as well as shooting schedule has been impacted, and she is waiting for things to fall back in place.

“It’s a snowball effect. Like the rest of the country, work has come to a standstill irrespective of what field you’re in barring the essentials and medical facilities. But, at this point, one should be grateful to just be healthy and alive..to have their loved ones safe and around,” the 32-year-old says.

Meanwhile, the War (2019) actor is keeping herself busy, staying positive and being in touch with her friends and family regularly.

“I am watching movies and TV shows, reading books, doing self-created workout routine, and of course staying in touch with my family and loved ones on a daily basis via calls,” she concludes.
