Yadav’s allegation against the BJP government in UP came a day after the income tax department raided the residences of some of his close aides, including SP national secretary Rajeev Rai in Mau and at Yadav’s officer on special duty during his tenure as the CM, Jainendra Yadav, in Lucknow.
“I want to tell you that all our phones are being heard. Phones of the SP office and of those who are associated with us are being heard. They have all been put on listening (mode). The CM himself listens to the recordings in the evenings,” Yadav said in a press conference in Lucknow. He also cautioned the media: “If you have associations with us, then know that your call recordings are there.”
On a question of allegedly using administrative officials for carrying out such political work, Yadav said, the full form of an IAS officer itself stands for “individual after sarkar”. He said some of them are doing it because they are helpless and some want to keep pleasing the government, even in its “last days”.
Later, he said the tapping and raiding is not a “new occurrence”.
“Wherever the elections take place, the BJP resorts to such moves,” he said.
