Ubisoft’s Project U Playtesting Leak Sheds Light on Upcoming Co-op Game

After being in development for years, Ubisoft recently surprised fans with a closed beta playtest for Project U.

The title has been in development for quite some time at Ubisoft Annecy, the studio behind Riders Republic. After playtest began earlier today in Western Europe, some leaks and reports about the title seeped through the cracks, with one of them showcasing an introductory video involving the developers.

The leaked clip in question begins with a montage of high-octane action in Project U, which has been described to be a co-op shooter title. The video then cuts to a couple of Project U developers at Ubisoft Annecy, who shared that ‘U’ stands for Unite, which is what players in the closed beta will need to do in order to prevail in the game.

Along with some other gameplay footage, the video mostly revolves around the developers’ interest in receiving feedback from players, who have opted to take part in the closed beta for the co-op title, which is confirmed to be in early development.

Not much is known about the game, except for the official art for Project U, which showcases a group of armored fighters taking on a mysterious army. Moreover, some leaks suggest that the game will require players to band together and reach the middle of the map, while AI enemies continue to become harder to defeat.

According to a report from Insider Gaming, players will need to capture camps and defend targets, while playing as one of four classes in Attacker, Defender, Medic, and Support, who possess different abilities. Fans might want to take these reports with a grain of salt, and it remains to be seen what Ubisoft Annecy has been cooking up with Project U.
