Succession actor Brian Cox had some strong words to say about the Russian invasion of Ukraine during his recent appearance at an award show.
The Scottish actor made headlines with his acceptance speech at the recently concluded Screen Actor’s Guild Awards 2022, after Succession took home the prize of best ensemble in a Drama series.
Cox’s speech started out with him thanking everyone involved in the making of Succession. including the show’s cast, producers, showrunners and more.
However, his speech soon changed scenery after he began talking about the war that’s taking place in Ukraine with the Russian armed forces invading the Easter European country.
While the actor acknowledged the depressing nature of the war, Cox also showcased his support to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who made his name as a comedian before he took the reins of the country.
Other than that, the 75-year-old actor also had some scathing remarks at Russia’s attempts to silence the detractors from the film fraternity by threatening them, and he wished that their voices could be heard around the world through their medium.
The war has already seen many casualties on both the Russian and Ukrainian side. As the days go by, the invasion continues to shed more blood in Ukraine, and it’s unclear whether it will stop anytime soon.
