Threads Will Get a Chronological Feed Option Eventually

A chronological feed option is coming to Threads at some point.

That’s according to head of Instagram Adam Mosseri, who took to Threads to respond to tweets from former Twitter boss Jack Dorsey and current Twitter boss Elon Musk about the lack of a following tab on the new social network from Facebook and Instagram owner Meta.

“Not surprising they’ve never given people the choice to remove the algorithm,” Dorsey said. “Look at Instagram.”

Musk, who has accused Meta of “cheating” with the launch Threads, said: “A closed source, algorithm-only system means that manipulation of what information people see is essentially undetectable.”

Mosseri screenshotted this exchange in the response on Threads, saying: “If anyone was asking, both Instagram and Facebook have chronological feeds options, so yes, we’re going to bring one to Threads too.”

Threads, which launched this week and already has more than 30 million users, is pitched as a “friendly” alternative to Twitter. Twitter currently has an estimated 350 million users.

Twitter has threatened to sue Meta over “systematic, willful and unlawful misappropriation” of Twitter’s trade secrets and intellectual property, as well as scraping of Twitter’s data. Meta has denied the claims.

With a new social media app for people to join, the internet has been vocal about how they feel about Meta’s new internet endeavor.
