Thor: Love and Thunder Lego Set Confirms Christian Bale’s Character Will Wield the Necrosword

After much leaks, MCU fans finally have some information about Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder, and no it’s not a teaser, poster or an entire trailer itself.

Instead, Marvel has announced the LEGO collection featuring many of the movie’s characters such as Thor, Mighty Thor, Korg, and Valkyrie.

Along with the heroes, the set also includes the villain in Gorr the God Butcher, who will be played by Christian Bale in the upcoming MCU movie.

The designs for the character showcase the white silhouette that comic book fans have seen for many years, and it sure seems like the God Butcher will definitely be Thor’s tougher opponent after a grueling battle with his sister Hela in Thor: Ragnarok

While Gorr will have his many sets of powers and abilities to choose from, the LEGO collection also confirmed that he will wielding be the All-Black, which is also known as the Necrosword.

In the comics, the Necrosword is a living symbiote which manifested from the shadow of Knull, the creator of the symbiotes. Following the death of Knull, the All-Black symbiote linked with Gorr, and since then, the God Butcher has slain many enemies with it.

In the comics the Necrosword was a major part of Gorr the God Butcher’s origins. However, the iconic sword had already made its way into the MCU with Thor: Ragnarok, when Hela introduced an unnamed sword which looked awfully similar.

While the movie never addressed if it was the Necrosword or Hela’s legendary Nightsword from the comics, the second episode of animated Marvel Disney+ show, What If…? confirmed that Thor’s sister had indeed been using the Necrosword when the Collector revealed it while wearing the villain’s epic headgear.

It’s unclear how the Necrosword ended up in Hela’s hands, and it will be interesting to see how the All-Black returns to Gorr in the upcoming Taika Waititi-directed movie. With the Necrosword becoming canon to the MCU, it remains to be seen how long it would take for Marvel to introduce Knull as an Avengers-level threat in a future movie.
