The Walking Dead Release Dates: AMC Sets Dates for its Multitude of Spinoffs

2023 is a big year for The Walking Dead universe, as AMC has revealed that two new shows will premiere this year, in addition to the conclusion of Fear the Walking Dead.

Fear the Walking Dead’s eighth and final season will take place over two six-episode parts. The first part begins on Sunday, May 14, with the second set of episodes airing later this year. The season kicks off with Lennie James’ Morgan, Kim Dickens’ Madison, and a handful of others living under PADRE’s cynical rule.

The Walking Dead: Dead City is a new spinoff series starring Lauren Cohan’s Maggie and Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan. The show takes place in New York City, in a post-apocalyptic Manhattan that is cut off from the mainland. The series also stars Gaius Charles, Zeljko Ivanek, Karina Ortiz, Jonathan Higginbotham and Mahina Napoleon. Dead City is set to premiere in June. The show was first announced last year under the title Isle of the Dead.

Norman Reedus will star in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, another new spinoff series set to air later this year. The series sees Reedus’ Daryl in France, as he works to find his way home.

Finally, 2024 will see the release of another Walking Dead spinoff series starring Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes and Danai Gurira’s Michonne. The series will continue their love story, and has replaced the previously-planned Rick Grimes movie.

AMC is taking The Walking Dead zombies across the globe with these upcoming spinoffs, as AMC President Dan McDermott said fans can expect, “zombies walking across the Brooklyn Bridge, beneath the Eiffel Tower, inside the Louvre, and at dozens more exotic and iconic locations from around the country and world.”

The original The Walking Dead series just came to an end back in November, after 11 seasons. For more, check out our competition where the IGN audience picked the best character from The Walking Dead.
