Universal has officially set The Super Mario Bros. Movie’s streaming release. The mega-hit adaptation will be available to stream exclusively on Peacock starting Aug. 3.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie’s all-star cast includes Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach. The film enjoyed immense success during its theatrical run, raking in over $1 billion at the worldwide box office and scoring big with both families and video game diehards.
Fans who want to dive deeper into the movie are in luck: Peacock subscribers will also have access to bonus features, which include behind-the-scenes interviews with the stars, an immersive video featuring the cast and various interactive features throughout, and a sing-a-long lyric video of Black’s Bowser serenade Peaches.
While Super Mario Bros. Movie is an undisputed hit (and may very well end up being the highest-grossing film of the year), the critical reception was mixed. IGN’s Tom Jorgensen, though, gave it an 8/10, lauding its “undeniable charm and energy” and adding that it “delights with its infectious energy and smart implementations of video game callbacks.”
For those who prefer physical media, The Super Mario Bros. movie is available now on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K.
