A Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player has created a set of working scales using the game’s Ultrahand mechanic, revealing some strange truths about Hyrule and Link in particular.
Now able to see what objects weigh in comparison to others, Reddit user RecommendationOk6842 posted a video that revealed Link’s weight. Turns out, the Hero of Time only weighs the equivalent of 10 apples.
That’s not all the scale revealed though, as Tears of the Kingdom has some other strange rules for item weights. A boulder was placed on the scale against one about three times its size, for example, but the scale remained balanced.
While this all seems like fun and games, other players in the comments began seeing the potential of the scale for aviation. “This will completely revolutionise aircraft engineering,” said one. “I love how this might be accidentally useful,” said another.
“What a great concept though, I never would have thought to do this, but now that I see it done it’s so obvious,” they continued. “We could legit establish a unit of measurement with this, and use it to see how much our builds actually weigh.”
Tears of the Kingdom has already been out a month, but it looks as though players will be experimenting with its creative mechanics for years to come. The new powers are also being used to shortcut players through Korok puzzles and straight up bully the forest dwellers.
In our 10/10 review of the game, IGN said: “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is an unfathomable follow-up, expanding a world that already felt full beyond expectation and raising the bar ever higher into the clouds.”
