The Last of Us Voice Actor Was Initially Sceptical of TV Adaptation, Here is the Episode 6 Preview

The original voice actor for Joel Miller in the The Last of Us games, Troy Baker, recently shared his initial thoughts on the television adaptation of the game.

In an interview with Wired, Baker revealed that he was first against the idea of having The Last of Us adapted into a TV series. Baker had doubts about the series, and he talked about his opinion with the game’s creator, Neil Druckmann. However, after reading the scripts, his concerns went away.

“I had a very specific perspective on these characters. So much so that I was talking to Neil like, ‘We’ve already done this, we’ve already shot it, we’ve scored it, we’ve put it out there and people have experienced the story. So why do we do this?’ He goes, ‘Because at the end of the day, there are people that aren’t going to pick up a controller and play the story. And I believe that these characters can stand up on their own in any medium,'” Baker said.

Even though he was sceptical at first, The Last of Us’ scripts changed his perspective. “There were moments in reading it where I was like, ‘Oh man, that’s really good.’ I wanted my version of it to be the only true version, but what I loved about going through the process of making the TV show is understanding that this iteration proves the merit of this story and the merit of these characters and the merit of this world because it’s relevant and applicable and resonant,” he explained.

Pedro Pascal plays Joel Miller in HBO’s TV adaptation of The Last of U, with Bella Ramsey playing the role of Ellie. The series has received critical acclaim and can be considered a successful adaptation of the game so far.
