The Last of Us Part I Receives Second Patch for Performance Issues; Manages Fourth Biggest Steam Launch for a PlayStation Title

The Last of Us Part I received rave reviews, when it first dropped on the PlayStation 5 last year. However, the response towards the game’s launch on PC couldn’t have been more contrasting.

The title’s release earlier this week was marred by performance and stability issues, which came in the way of several playthroughs. This led to the game receiving “Mostly Negative” reviews on Steam.

The Last of Us Part I Steam launch lags behind God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, and Horizon Zero Dawn

Despite the various negative responses, the game still managed to garner a peak of 36,496 concurrent players at launch (via SteamDB). However, the number is quite low when compared to the releases of other PlayStation titles on PC.

According to GamingBolt, The Last of Us Part I had the fourth best launch for a PlayStation title on Steam. The list is topped by Santa Monica Studio’s God of War with 73,529, followed by Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Horizon Zero Dawn with 66,436 and 56,557 players, respectively.

The Naughty Dog-developed title ranked above other PlayStation PC launches such as Days Gone, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection.
