The nominations for the highly anticipated 2022 edition of The Game Awards have finally arrived, with strong favourites in God of War Ragnarok, Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West.
The Geoff Keighley-led event takes place on Thursday, December 8 at the Microsoft Theater with the who’s who of gaming.
Alongside the several reveals and announcements, fans should expect to see many 2022 titles being crowned for their various achievements.
The nominations which were announced yesterday saw Santa Monica Studio’s God of War Ragnarok leading with 10 nods including Game of the Year, Best Narrative, Best Game Direction and more.
FromSoftware’s Elden Ring came second with seven nominations with similar nods including Game of the Year.
The coveted category also includes titles like Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Forbidden West, Asobo Studio’s A Plague Tale: Requiem, BlueTwelve Studio’s Stray, and Monolith Soft’s Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
Other categories like Best Adaptation sees League of Legends’ Arcane facing off against Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Uncharted, The Cuphead Show! and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
In the Best Performance category, Christopher Judge’s portrayal of Kratos in God of War Ragnarok will face stiff competition from the likes of Sunny Suljic, who plays his son Atreus.
When it comes to the mobile realm, the new Apex Legends Mobile title will battle it out with Diablo Immortal, Marvel Snap, Genshin Impact and Tower of Fantasy. In the VR/AR world, Among Us leads as the most popular title in the nominations.
For the content creator of the year, streamer Ludwig will take on Karl Jacobs, Nobru, QTCinderella and popular games news tweeter, Nibellion.
