This story contains a spoiler for a small cameo in The Flash.
It’s official – Teddy Sears wasn’t in The Flash after all, despite seemingly appearing alongside numerous other DC heroes.
During an interview with TV Line, the actor revealed that it wasn’t him you saw portraying the Golden Age version of The Flash in the new movie.
“I mean… that looks like my likeness,” he said. But it isn’t actually him at all.
Sears played Jay Garrick, the classic 1940s version of The Flash, alongside Grant Gustin in the popular DC television show, The Flash.
Instantly recognizable thanks to his winged helmet, the cameo in the recently released movie is very clearly an appearance for the Golden Age version of the famed speedster. However, it looks as though it wasn’t Teddy Sears as the Fastest Man Alive, even if it does look like him.
“People kept telling me that I was in the new Flash movie…,” he explained. “I mean, I’m sleep-deprived with a newborn at home, so my memory is a little foggy. But I’m pretty sure I would have remembered shooting a major DC Studios film.”
The other possibility is that The Flash used archive footage from the popular CW show, but it’s reportedly not that, either. Instead, the cameo is said to be a CGI representation of a generic Golden Age Flash. Even though it really looks like Teddy Sears.
“Sadly, I’m not in this,” he added, lamenting that he did not, in fact, appear alongside DC heavyweights such as Christopher Reeve, Adam West, and others.
How these ‘cameo’ appearances came about is now thrown into question, especially since several other real-life actors made a CGI appearance in the movie. It begs the question – were they actually involved or not?

IGN’s review of The Flash gave it 7/10 and said: “The Flash is an ambitious superhero movie that largely pulls off its tale of two worlds, two Flashes, and two Batmans. The superhero fan service is strong with this one – perhaps too strong at times – but it never fully overshadows Barry Allen’s genuinely tragic and heartfelt story of grief.”
