The Fast Saga Will Say Goodbye to Paul Walker’s Character, Vin Diesel Confirms

The Fast Saga is speeding to its conclusion, starting with the release of Fast X this May. Franchise star Vin Diesel has teased that the movies still have to say goodbye to the late Paul Walker’s character, Brian O’Conner, before the series comes to an end.

In an interview with Total Film, Diesel teased that Brian could appear in some way in the Fast and Furious finale.

“That moment in 2013 when the world was struggling with his loss, the studio made a very bold and righteous and daring decision to keep Brian O’Conner alive,” Diesel said. “I will give you this without spoiling anything: I couldn’t imagine this saga ending without truly saying goodbye to Brian O’Conner.”

Walker died in a car accident in 2013, ahead of the release of Furious 7. The seventh installment in the Fast franchise payed tribute to Walker in his final on-screen performance. Back then, Walker’s brothers recorded a baseline performance for additional scenes featuring Brian, followed by the use of CGI to recreate Walker’s features.

It’s possible Diesel’s tease could hint at a similar approach for upcoming the upcoming Fast and Furious movies. It’s unclear if Diesel is referring to Fast X or the untitled 11th movie. The franchise has already honored Walker by having Dom Toretto name his son Brian.

Following Fast X’s release this year, we know Fast and Furious 11 will be the last film in the saga. Fast X is already growing the size of the family by introducing Brie Larson and Jason Momoa into the mix. For more, check out where to watch every Fast and Furious movie.
