Tears Of The Kingdom’s Hyrule Engineering subreddit is now launching a movement to dissect the entire game and uncover more useful components for crafting and building contraptions.
On Reddit, user MiztrSageTOTK-Only poses the question, “Why not just use everything?” while sharing a video of a groundbreaking discovery that sparked the movement. In the video, a user successfully detaches a piece of platform railing and transports it to another location, suggesting that there may be numerous similar discoveries waiting to be made.
There’s even a subreddit dedicated to the movement now, aptly named HDPD, or Hyrule Detachable Parts Division. Since it was created yesterday, players have been documenting their removal attempts (or drumming attempts?) and having fun with the process, even when things don’t go their way. Here’s MiztrSage’s attempt to remove a door using an enormous amount of rockets, but apparently, the door didn’t like the bombastic attempt.
The movement’s goal does have some weight based on several previous findings, including instances where players extracted motors from shrines and integrated them into DIY engine systems. As seen in our previous report, fans have taken advantage of this ability to construct helicopters using a combination of Zonai and non-Zonai power sources and fly in the sky for extended periods of time—with some even managing to remain airborne indefinitely.
There’s also how cooking pots in Hyrule have been repurposed by Tears of the Kingdom ‘researchers’ for a function other than heating food. As previously reported, a player stumbled upon an unconventional use for cooking pots as flexible rubber joints. And this discovery made it possible to increase the elasticity of Zonai devices with little to no effort. At the time of writing, there is no Zonai part that offers the same ability or elasticity as these pots.
Another discovery was made that made it possible to compose music using seemingly unrelated Zonai components such as stakes and lasers. Composers began adjusting the lengths of the stakes and directing lasers at them, resulting in the production of 8-bit-style chiptunes. This was undoubtedly not the intended purpose of the stakes, nor were they programmed with these specific applications in mind, but players managed to repurpose these items and discover new uses for them. It was only a matter of time before someone started an HDPD-like movement with the goal of tearing Hyrule apart.
