IGN was able to attend Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood ahead of its official opening, and we’re thrilled to share with you a few quick glimpses of the new land’s Mario-themed food, decorations, surprises, and more.
We will have much more coverage of Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood on the way before it opens on February 17, 2023, but you can jump into the slideshow below to see what wonderful things this land based on Mushroom Kingdom has to offer.
Included in the slideshow are images of the food and drinks available at Toadstool Cafe, Toads working behind-the-scenes at the cafe, statues of Bowser, Power-Ups like the Mushroom and Fire Flower, Yoshi, a portrait as you walk in that looks as if it was pulled out of Super Mario 64, and much more.
Super Nintendo World is already open at Universal Studios Japan, and we were able to check out the full experience there to give you an even better idea of how wonderful it actually is.
In our review of Japan’s Super Nintendo World, we said that it “brilliantly reinvents and gamifies the theme park experience, while offering an unprecedented level of immersion and – most importantly – fun. It’s a fitting tribute to Super Mario on the series’ 35th anniversary that will fill your heart with joy.”
Mushroom Kingdom is only the beginning for Super Nintendo World, as it has already been confirmed that a Donkey Kong-themed expansion is set to open in 2024 in Japan. Furhtermore, The Pokemon Company signed a deal with Universal Studios Japan to add Pokemon-themed attractions to the Osaka theme park, presumably as part of Super Nintendo World.
Super Nintendo World will also open in Universal Studios Orlando, but reports say that fans may have to wait until 2025 until that particular warp pipe opens.
