Apple iPhone turns 15 Watch Steve Jobs unveil the very first iPhone

Apple’s most selling device, iPhone, has turned 15 this week. In January 2007, Apple’s founder and CEO, Steve Jobs unveiled the first-ever Apple iPhone at the Macworld Expo in San Francisco, California. Although the original iPhone was quite small with a 3.5-inch LCD display and bold bezels, it was undoubtedly a revolutionary product in the smartphone segment. It had thick chassis, 2MP camera and simple Home button. Under the hood, it was powered by a Samsung processor. Unfortunately, Apple events were not live streamed on YouTube and Apple website at that time but you can now experience the launch event of the product that helped Apple become world’s first company to hit $3 trillion market value.

In 2007, there weren’t many manufacturers in the touchscreen smartphones segment. Most touchscreen devices at the time were heavily relying on hardware based keyboards and styluses to use the touch interface. The Apple iPhone stood apart from the crowd as its display had multi-touch support and it also had a limited number of physical buttons.

Since the first-gen model, iPhones have come a long way. Although the current-gen iPhones are completely new devices, it’s really easy to spot the vision Steve Jobs had for these devices. According to Apple, there were more than 1 billion active iPhones worldwide in January last year.
