Months after the release of The Mandalorian Season 3, the first episode Disney Gallery| Star Wars: The Mandalorian Season 3 is now out on Disney+ Hotstar. In the episode Director Jon Favreau hinted that they we will get to learn more about Grogu’s past through his flashbacks, which have been explored in Season 3, and earlier in The Book of Boba Fett.
The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau talks about telling Grogu’s backstory
Favreau spoke about the entry point of Ahmed Best in The Mandalorian, who is known for voicing Jar Jar Binks in the Prequel Trilogy. After Best’s appearance as Jedi Master Kelleran Beq in 2020’s Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge, he reprised the role in The Mandalorian Season 3 in a flashback scene. It revealed that Beq was the one who rescued Grogu from the Jedi Temple during Order 66. Speaking about Grogu’s flashbacks and the backstory they reveal, Favreau said,
“We knew we had to tell more stories cause we’ve told flashbacks about what happened to Grogu. And how Grogu escaped the jedi temple. We’ve shown little glimpses and clips of his memory, most recently in The Book of Boba Fett. And so, we wanted to continue to tell that story in small chapters. And so we had to figure out, “What’s the next chapter? What’s the likely thing that would’ve happened?”
This hints at more seasons of The Mandalorian lined up, which further explores Grogu’s backstory, and in all probability, through his flashbacks.
Star Wars: Eclipse Release Window Leaked
In other news, a report has surfaced that suggests that the upcoming game Star Wars Eclipse would likely be delayed further from its tentative release window of 2026. Insider Gaming has revealed this information from the same sources who divulged about Netease’s plans of acquiring Star Wars Eclipse developers Quantic Dream, months before it was officially announced.
The report mentions that “due to the scope of Star Wars Eclipse and alleged issues with hiring staff, the game could be delayed further from its 2026 target.” Star Wars Eclipse was first revealed at The Game Awards 2021, with details of the story leaked last year in October 2022.
