Splice appoints David Ericksen as SVP of Product and Kevin Stewart as SVP of Engineering – Music Business Worldwide

Prominent sample marketplace Splice has made two new senior appointments.

Software executive Kevin Stewart is set to join Splice as Senior Vice President of Engineering.

Meanwhile, former Adobe executive David Ericksen has been named Senior Vice President of Product at the company.

Both executives will report to Splice CEO, Kakul Srivastava, who joined the company in May 2022, having held leadership roles at Adobe, GitHub, WeWork and Yahoo.

Splice says that the appointments deliver on its “AI and technology promise by building a deep technology leadership bench”.

Splice, which has previously reported to have paid out over $30 million in royalties to musicians to date, confirmed to MBW earlier this month that its users are downloading 30 million sounds per month.

Kevin Stewart most recently served as Vice President of Engineering at Harvest.

Hre also previously led engineering at companies like Fastly, Heptio and NodeSource.

David Ericksen joins Splice from Adobe where he was Senior Director of Product Management.

Splice says he enjoyed a “long and successful” tenure at the company, beginning in 2009, working with Srivastava on such products as Creative Cloud, mobile apps and on the SaaS team that created Adobe Creative Suite.

“Both of these leaders bring an incredible breadth of experience and expertise to our team at Splice.”

“Both of these leaders bring an incredible breadth of experience and expertise to our team at Splice,” said Srivastava.

“David and Kevin are experts in building products for creative people and will help us accelerate innovation to deliver even better and more powerful experiences for music creators at scale.”

“Splice’s vision for the future is incredibly inspiring and my aim is to help the team deliver on that vision.”

Stewart said: “Integrating the deep musical knowledge that exists at Splice with the appropriate use of enabling technology will empower creators even more.
