Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Cosplayer Builds the Spot Costume With Almost Real ‘Portals’

YouTube channel JeLaservideo has done it again, this time with an ultra-realistic Spot costume. Banking on the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse hype that hasn’t really gone down even more than a month after the release, they demonstrated the costume for the villain Spot, who made his appearance in the movie. Here’s all you need to know about this interesting cosplay.

The Spot costume has holes that work like Spider-Man supervillain Spot’s portals

The Spot costume, as was showcase in the TikTok video is complete with functional ‘portals’. The Spot costume was made out of a white Morphsuit, which is basically a spandex costume. The YouTuber then painted black polka dots for the vacuums that portal into other dimensions for the Spot villain. They reportedly used Musou black paint for the same, which absorbs up to 99.4 percent of visible light.

The YouTuber explained on his TikTok video that “Because light isn’t reflected, [the paint] makes 3D objects look 2D, which you can use to hide the depth of holes”. It covered a tube that connected the hole on his hand to his stomach and transported the tennis ball from his hand to his stomach. It gives the kind of illusion we saw with the Spot in the movie Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse.

The YouTuber said, “When I saw Across the Spider-Verse, I wanted to build something never done before. But portals don’t exist in real life—at least not yet.” However, creating The Spot costume isn’t the only unbelievable feat achieved by this cosplayer.
