Sony Postpones the Release Dates of Both Across the Spider-Verse Movies

Spider-Man fans recently had to swallow a tough pill, when it was announced that the sequels to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse were being delayed.

Sony recently revealed their new release slate for movies like Across the Spider-Verse, Madame Web and The Equalizer 3, which will release in the years 2023 and 2024.

Across the Spider-Verse was originally supposed to release as a two-part sequel with Part I set to arrive on October 7, 2022. But, with the new changes, the movie has officially dropped Part I from its title, and it will now release on June 2, 2023. Along with that, Part II of the film will release in 2024 on March 29.

The movie first received its teaser trailer last year, which featured Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, and Oscar Isaac’s Miguel O’Hara aka Spider-Man 2099, who was first teased in the post-credits scene of Into the Spider-Verse. The movie will continue the storyline of the first movie, which included multiple iterations of Spider-Man from different universes, and fans should expect to see more variants in the sequel as well.

Other than that, Sony also revealed the release date for the Madame Web, which will feature Dakota Johnson as the titular character. The movie will join Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Kraven the Hunter film in the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters (SPUMC), when it releases on July 7, 2023.

Hollywood star Denzel Washington will also be returning to kick more butt as Robert McCall, when he will return in director Antoine Fuqua’s The Equalizer 3 on September 1, 2023.
