Sony Music’s Santa Anna makes three exec appointments a month after launch – Music Business Worldwide

Santa Anna, a new record label founded by Sony Music Entertainment (SME) and Todd Moscowitz last month, has announced three key appointments to bolster its management team.

Dave Anderson was named General Manager, while Carlos “Los” Ogando was named Vice President of Promotion. They will both report to Moscowitz, Santa Anna’s co-founder and founder and CEO of Alamo Records, which is owned by SME.

Anderson joins Santa Anna from Geffen Records and Warner Records, where he served in Vice President of Commerce roles. In his new role, he will oversee Santa Anna’s growing marketing, promotion and digital teams.

“Dave and Los have great skill and talent to work creatively and successfully with artists. I look forward to working with them as they develop incredible opportunities and experiences for our roster, to reach new fans and consumers.”

Ogando also held positions at both Geffen and Warner Records prior to joinint Santa Anna. As VP of Promotion, he will help Santa Anna create and execute its promotion strategy across multiple formats.

Santa Anna also appointed Derek Lee as Chief Financial Officer of the new record label, in addition to his role as CFO of Alamo. Lee has been with Alamo as Senior Vice President and CFO since January 2022. From 2019 to 2022, he served as SVP of Corporate Strategy at Sony Music Entertainment.

Prior to that, Lee was SME’s SVP for Global Financial Planning & Analysis.

Lee first joined SME in 2007 and after spending nearly six years as the company’s senior director for Corporate Strategy and as VP for Reporting, Analytics & Research, he briefly left SME in 2013 to pursue other roles in Univision Communications, Equinox and DKL Consulting.

“I also am thrilled to have Derek join Santa Anna. He has become an invaluable member of the leadership team.”

He returned to SME in 2015 in an SVP role, helping the company drive strategic planning process and set an overall strategic direction for the wider group, according to his LinkedIn page.

Commenting on the appointments, Moscowitz said: “Dave and Los have great skill and talent to work creatively and successfully with artists. I look forward to working with them as they develop incredible opportunities and experiences for our roster, to reach new fans and consumers. I also am thrilled to have Derek join Santa Anna. He has become an invaluable member of the leadership team.”

The appointments come as Santa Anna aims to become a label that supports artists in “maximizing their creative potential and build their businesses.”

New York-based Santa Anna is led by Lee L’Heureux, who also took on the role of President of Alamo Records, reporting to Moscowitz. Like Ogando and Anderson, L’Heureux also spent time at Universal Music Group-owned Geffen Records.

SME and Moscowitz launched Santa Anna about a year and a half after SME acquired a majority stake in Alamo in a nine-figure deal.

Less than two weeks after Santa Anna’s launch, the label signed a distribution agreement with Los Angeles-based record label and management company LISTEN TO THE KIDS, a joint venture between CEO Conor Ambrose and Universal Music Group-owned Interscope Records.

And on Monday (January 30), Santa Anna launched a new record label with Alamo Records and Baroline Diaz, former Vice President of A&R at Interscope Records.

The new label, Great Day Records, will have access to Santa Anna’s resources and promotional support.
