Sons Of The Forest – 3D Printer Location And Craftable Items Guide

Sons of the Forest has numerous points-of-interest for you to check out. One, in particular, has a rather nifty device. Here’s our Sons of the Forest 3D Printer guide to help you find this machine so you can craft new items.

3D Printer location in Sons of the Forest

To find the 3D Printer in Sons of the Forest, you’ll need to bring out your GPS Device by pressing the “M” key. The screen will rotate depending on your character’s orientation. As such, to make it simpler, let’s say that you’re at the helicopter crash site and the mountains are to the north. You should see two caves: one directly south of that area and one to the southeast. Likewise, there should be a green dot close to the southeast cave.

You’ll want to head to that green dot (which can be seen in the image below). Once you’re close enough, you’ll see that the place is overgrown with weeds and vines. However, there should be another opening here. Enter it and you’ll arrive at a dark corridor. At the end of the hallway, you’ll stumble upon a rather cozy spot: a rest area that has the Sons of the Forest 3D Printer.

The green marker close to the southeast cave denotes the entrance to the 3D Printer room.

How to craft items using the 3D Printer

The 3D Printer in Sons of the Forest uses Printer Resin as a material. There are a couple of bottles near the helicopter crash site, a few more in the printing area, and others that are scattered all over the island. Just make sure you’re always opening containers with yellow lids or checking shelves.

In any case, the idea here is that each craftable item costs a certain amount of resin. Once the printer is almost out of resin, you’ll have to fill it up by using what you’ve gathered beforehand. Below, you’ll see the items, as well as their costs and uses. You can switch to the other items by pressing the “R” key, and you may start the printing process by holding the “E” key.

  • Arrows (50 ml) – Projectile/ammo for your bows.
  • Flask (100 ml) – Can hold freshwater; craft this as soon as you can so you can quench your thirst without having to look for rivers.
  • Red Mask (150 ml) – Can be worn; may convince cannibals not to attack you.
  • Grappling Hooks (100 ml) – Can be combined with a Rope to create a Zipline Rope; used in conjunction with the Rope Gun.
  • Tech Mesh (250 ml) – One of the materials needed to craft the Tech Armor.
  • Sled (1000 ml) – Can be used to ride downhill or downriver.
The 3D Printer room has a lot of stuff that can be looted, including arrows, resin bottles, batteries, and more. There's also a bedroll that you can use to save and rest.

Do take note that this isn’t the only 3D Printer in Sons of the Forest. There are others, but you’ll need to acquire specific tools or keycards to access those areas. Don’t worry since all devices have similar craftable items anyway. Lastly, speaking of keycards, this particular location has a locked door at the end of the hallway. It can only be opened once you’ve found the Guest Keycard.
