San Francisco-based blockchain-powered music platform Audius has appointed Shamal Ranasinghe as Chief Business Officer.
Ranasinghe will oversee the company’s relationship with the music industry.
A veteran of the music technology space, Ranasinghe joins Audius from SiriusXM/Pandora, where he was Vice President of Product Management, Catalog and Creators.
He spent nearly eight years at the satellite radio and streaming company, overseeing product development for artists, labels, rights holders, managers and live music partners.
Thre, he managed the launch of the direct-deal music catalog in the Pandora on-demand service and the Artist Marketing Platform (AMP), which provides analytics, music creation and storytelling capabilities for artists, curators and their teams.
Prior to his tenure at SiriusXM/Pandora, Ranasinghe was a co-founder of Fluence and Curators.com, which connects curators to their fans and customers.
Ranasinghe was also a co-founder in Topspin Media, a pioneering direct-to-fan marketing platform that helped artists promote and sell to their fans.
Topspin was acquired by Beats Music in 2014. He is also an advisor to Authentic-Artists, Beatclub, Feed.fm and he sits on the board of Envelop, a spatial audio venue sound system and software non-profit. He has been an advisor to Audius since 2018.
