Samsung today announced the launch of its latest external storage device, the T7 Shield Portable Solid State Drive (PSSD). The new SSD external drive offers faster data transfer speed and reliability in a durable, credit card size design.
The T7 Shield is the newest addition to the Samsung T7 Portable SSD family that includes the T7, a daily driver that provides fast speed in a sleek design, and the T7 Touch, a PSSD with a built-in fingerprint sensor for enhanced data protection.
Samsung T7 Shield: Price, variants and availability
The external rugged SSD is available in Beige, Black and Blue colour options and it is available in 1TB and 2TB sizes.
The 1TB variant of the T7 Shield is priced at Rs 22,999 and the 1TB variant costs Rs 12,999
The drive will be available at all Samsung retail stores, leading consumer electronics stores, and across online platforms, including Samsung’s official online store Samsung Shop.
Samsung T7 Shield external SSD drive: Features
The SSD drive comes with IP65 rating and features a compact and lightweight design. The T7 Shield is also shock-resistant and the company claims that it can sustain a drop of up to three metres.
As far as performance is concerned, the T7 Shield claims to offer read speed of 1050 Mbps and write speed of 1000Mbps via USB 3.1 Gen 2 port.
Samsung claims that they have optimised the performance of the product to offer better and consistent performance in the longer run and also reduce the performance degradation and overheating while transferring large files.
The drive is also compatible with multiple device and it works with PC, Mac, Android and gaming consoles.
Additionally, the T7 Shield has strengthened security (*256-bit AES, Advanced Encryption Standard) with hardware encryption so that consumer data can be safely protected even if the T7 shield is lost. Samsung has also provided access to Samsung’s Magician software which lets users conveniently manage the drive.
